History: May 11, 1998! The world woke up to the news of India's three nuclear tests at the Pokhran test range code named "Shakti". These nuclear tests resulted in a variety of sanctions against India by a number of major states. The internet world suddenly buzzed with comments
criticizing India. However most of the message boards and websites were
unanimous in their opinion.. India Should not have done this!! India tested 2 more devises on
18 May 1998. The internet world erupted against India!
As a response, a one page website was put up on a free hosting site on 20 May 1998, listing the reasons why India have the
right to do these tests. (The one page archive is cherished here) That page helped many young Indians to take a stand against those who argued against India.
in 2000, the "My-India.Net" domain was formally registered to host this single page website which was by then popular. Over time, the site slowly evolved as a comprehensive Indian web portal, covering Indian news, movies, forums and directory etc., offering a comprehensive network of essential services for Indian web users around the globe. My-India.Net now called as "MINET" in short, now consist of a cluster of regional Indian web communities and offers a comprehensive set of online portals representing various regional communities of India, with well over 100,000 web pages under its fold.
Serving the niche communities from various Indian states, the mission of MINET is to offer itself as a content and ad service medium for specific and well defined community audiences in various states of India. Today MINET provides a platform for people from these communities to communicate with each other, find information easily and access other relevant sites related to their communities quickly through MINET forums, news, directories, etc.
Through a very modular approach and scalable setup, MINET sites have now become an effective advertisement solution to Web based businesses who want to advertise their products and services with maximum efficiency and lowest cost. Catering to thousands of dedicated and repeat visitors daily through its various portals, MINET has positioned itself in its own niche with specific India focused content for various Indian communities around the globe.
Our Design Philosophy is to keep our pages Simple enough for every user but Fast to load in any kind of browser! We call it KISS (Keep it Simple! Stupid!)
MINET sites are known for its simplicity and ease of use. While designing our websites, one of the primary design philosophy we considered was to design our website for an average Indian web user. We were fairly successful in optimizing our page design to be simple yet informative by stripping out all the bells and whistles from most of our pages, but definitly without reducing the functionality of the pages in any manner, to achieve a simply beautiful design across all our sites.
