Deepika in 'Break Ke Baad' after split from Ranbir

Mumbai, Jan 9 (IANS) Right after Deepika Padukone's breakup with Ranbir Kapoor, the actress is coincidentally doing a film titled "Break Ke Baad" with Imran Khan.

That's what Kunal Kohli has chosen to call the first film that he is producing and not directing.

Says Kunal: "I and director Danish Aslam always wanted to call his film 'Break Ke Baad' because it's about a couple played by Imran and Deepika who breakup and want to come back together. But since we didn't have the rights to the title, we didn't want to announce it officially."

Kunal and his team couldn't locate the legal owners of the title anywhere in Mumbai. "We finally tracked it down to Bangalore to a 60-year-old gentleman who deals in electrical goods. He owns a company called Seva Films. 'Break Ke Baad' is one of the titles he had registered."

"He loved our idea and gladly parted with the title. Just like 'Break Ke Baad', while writing 'Hum Tum' I wanted my film to be called only that. Milind Soman had that title. I called him for it and finally he sold it to us for Rs.1.5 lakh," he added.

However, he said, getting permission to shoot in Delhi was far more difficult. "So many recent films have been shot in Delhi. Now the rules for shooting in the Capital have changed. I could write a thesis on what I've gone through to get permission to shoot in Delhi."

Kunal's problems as a producer don't end there. He has been denied permission to shoot in Australia's Gold Coast. "So we'll have to shoot in Cape Town and fudge the Gold Coast."

'Break Ke Baad' is set in Delhi and Australia.

Deepika Padukone unveils Kingfisher's 2010 calendar

Mumbai, Dec 20 (IANS) Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone Sunday unveiled the 2010 edition of Kingfisher's swimsuit special calendar.

"In the beginning of my career, I was a part of the calendar and it's becoming better every year. Girls in this calendar have done a fantastic job," said Deepika, who figured in the 2006 calendar.

"It's of international standards and it's one of the best calendars in the world," she added.

Asked if featuring in the calendar was a good platform to enter Bollywood, Deepika said: "Well, I didn't use it as a platform to enter the film industry, so I wouldn't say that. You can't be a model to be an actor. That's not what I did. But yes, Farah noticed me as a model and then decided to cast me in 'Om Shanti Om'."

"I am very proud of 2010 edition of the Kingfisher swimsuit special," said Vijay Mallya, UB group chairman before the calendar was unveiled at his palatial home.

Mallya said the calendar has given an opportunity to many young models from India and the world, and he hoped to continue the trend.

Noted photographer Atul Kasbekar has taken the photographs for the calendar.

Deepika Padukone, selected for Yash Raj's next project

Deepika Padukone, A-list starlet and the most graceful actress of Indian cinema, has bagged a Yash Raj film, the title of which is yet to be announced. Deepika will be paired with co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh and is all set to play an extremely challenging role in the love story to be set on the gritty streets of Mumbai. The film is scheduled to release in 2010 and promises to portray Deepika in a never seen before role. The film will be directed by National award-winning director Pradeep Sarkar (of Parineeta fame).  

A very challenging film for both actors, Yash Raj's Aditya Chopra was so impressed by Deepika's performance in the Box Office smash hit Love Aaj Kal that he was convinced she could pull off the tough role and immediately offered her the film. 

Deepika made her acting debut with top director and choreographer Farah Khan in Om Shanti Om. In a short span of time she has proved her mettle beyond her beauty, in film roles directed by the award-winning Imtiaz Ali and Farhan Akhtar among others.

Deepika Padukone, First Indian face to feature in Vogue - Latin America

Leading Indian actress and super model, Deepika Padukone visited Lima Peru, last month for a stylish photo shoot for Vogue – Latin America and for Cosas Magazine. Deepika is the first Indian face to feature in the Latin American Vogue. During her visit, Deepika stayed at the presidential suite at the Miraflores Park Hotel, Lima, the suite's previous occupants include Bill Clinton, Duran Duran and Tommy Hilfiger.

Deepika said "The presidential palace that I visited is to date one of the most stunning pieces of architecture I have come across, its beauty is indescribable. The warmth that the people of Peru gave me is something that I will always hold close to my heart. If you get this much respect as a stranger, I can imagine the care you get when you are their loved one. Be it the Minister of Tourism whom I met at the Peru fashion show or a shopkeeper in the local market, everyone greeted me with so much of affectation that it fills me with gratitude even now".

Deepika previously walked the ramp with international  model Naomi Campbell at the Lakme Fashion week 2009 in Mumbai, India and also attended the Fashion Week Peruvian Moda as the guest of honor at the invitation of Ms Mercedes Araos, Peruvian Minister for Tourism and Commerce during her visit to Peru.

Deepika Padukone is the most searched celebrity on Yahoo! India Search in 2008

Yahoo! India, the leading internet company announced the most popular searches, themes and trends as part of its 2008 Year-ender Special (http://in.specials.yahoo.com/new-year-2009/index.php), as told through the searches conducted by millions of users. Among the top people searches, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone emerged a clear winner.

These most searched words in 2008 not only represents the top ten searches across categories, but also shows that users even search for information that affect their daily life including the economy, government organizations and controversies.

"Extreme proliferation of information and paucity of time is fuelling the human desire to get the right answers faster than ever before, prompting them to look for newer search experiences. People are showing a strong preference for a search experience, which integrates relevant text, images, and video content information from across the web onto a single search results page," said Gopal Krishna, VP and Head of Audience – Emerging Markets, Yahoo!

"These search trends provide greater insight on consumer search behaviour, which in turn helps in making the right information available to people more quickly and easily," Gopal added.

Mobile users continued their online activities even when they were on-the-go. The top searches on Yahoo! oneSearch, the company's award-winning mobile search product, was 'Cricket' followed by 'Katrina Kaif' and 'Asin', the lead actress of popular Bollywood film Ghajini.

"Users are increasingly searching for information on a mobile device. Yahoo! oneSearch is designed for the needs of a mobile user, intuitively returning results grouped around the user's query intent. For instance, when users search for cricket, Yahoo! oneSearch returns the latest scores, schedules, team profiles, roster, news, images and links to the cricket teams' websites," said Vishal Maheshwari, Senior Director – Connected Life, Yahoo! India.

Synopsis on "Top 10" searches

Users on Yahoo! India Search looked for various people and themes across categories like entertainment, sports, people, news, movies and online sites. India's entertainment industry and Bollywood icons definitely ruled in 2008, as they were included in almost all of the top categories. The hottest searches this year included Deepika Padukone, Indian Railways and the Sixth Pay Commission. Deepika once again topped the top people searches, along with Shilpa Shetty and Aishwarya Rai. The launch of iphone, the Bhajji-Sreesanth Row and the Bangalore Blasts were among the Top News Search for 2008. Searches in sports category comprised Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar and the Indian Tour of Australia. Films took centre stage as well, with titles like Singh Is Kinng, Dasavatharam and Kuselan being searched heavily by users.

Deepika in dual role again

Model turned actress Deepika Padukone who made her debut in Bollywood with a double role in Om Shanthi Om is to perform in dual role again.

Her ongoing project, Chandni Chowk To China, directed by Nikhil Advani is said to feature Deepika in double roles.

The film also features Akshay Kumar who dons the role of a chef who is mistaken to be a martial arts expert. It is learnt Deepika too will be performing some action scenes in the film.

Chandni Chowk To China is the forth coming Bollywood film directed by Salaam-e-Ishq director Nikhil Advani.
The film which is said to be an action comedy has Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. Akshay stars as a chef who is mistaken for a martial arts expert. Also cast Mithun Chakraborty.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy team handles the music. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the film which is first of its kind for a Bollywood movie. The shooting will be held in Chandhni Chowk, and various parts in China including Shanghai. Shooting is scheduled to be over by May.

Bollywood scores with sport caper 'Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal'

New Delhi/Mumbai, Nov 23 (ANI): After flooring audiences in Dubai at a glitzy premiere, Bollywood's sports caper 'Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal' released to a terrific response across the country today.  

The film is about a rag-tag team of South Asians, who win an English soccer tournament, the latest in a string of sports-themed movies, has left the audiences spellbound. 

"Movie is good. John's has essayed his role competently. His chemistry with Bipasha is good. The film is about team work based on soccer and how the entire team puts in efforts to win," said Shantanu, a viewer. 

"The movie is very good. It's fantastic. John's acting is superb in the movie," said another viewer. 

Starring some Bollywood biggies like John Abraham, Bipasha Basu, Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani, 'Goal' focuses on an amateur footballer who hopes to play in the English Premier League but chooses to get there by first resurrecting his local club.  

"This is not just a film on football. It's a family film, which will definitely appeal to the youth. We have simplified the game in the film. I think it's the feeling of victory which you get at the end of the film, the in-stadium experience," said actor John Abraham. 

Bipasha who plays the role of a physiotherapist and John's love interest, said " The story is about an underdog team that finally wins. I have a very sweet character that fits in really well with that of the boys."  

'Goal' is shot at real football stadia in London, including the Manchester stadium, which is considered the Mecca of football. 

Bollywood has of late successfully experimented with sports themes, and the year's biggest hit is about the field hockey. (ANI)

MP: Om Shanti Om is the much awaited movie of the Shah Rukh Khan fans which is schedled for release this Diwali season. The film is directed by choreographer Farah Khan. The film tells the story of characters 'Om' and 'Shanti'. Actress Deepika Padukone pairs with Sharukh for the first time in the film. The story is based on reincarnation and tells the love and life of film stars of the 70's. SRK plays a junior artist who falls madly in love with the then superstar heroine. Vishal-Shekhar has the music. Red Chillies Entertainment produces the film. Arjun Rampal, Kirron Kher, Shreyas Talpade etc are there in the cast. Farah Khan, Abbas Tyrewala has the story. Besides over 30 top Bollywood stars are doing a guest appearance for a special song in the film. The film is said to be a complete comic and romantic entertainer and is expected to be a sure shot success.
