The Indian government has extended Bangladesi author Taslima Nasreen's visa to a further period.
The controversial writer was in New Delhi in an undisclosed place under the Center government's protection after being forced to leave Kolkatta following security concerns.
Her 6 month visa which got expired on Sunday was further extended by the Indian External Affairs Ministry though the details of the extension are not known. However the government also maintained that she must respect the wishes of Indian citizens and should remain sensitive to India's traditions.
There were speculations over granting of a further extension amidst protests from radical Muslim groups demanding a stay on further extension of her Indian visa.
