IPL: Dhoni, Symmonds among top bids

The great auction bid for the players for BCCI's million dollar baby Indian Premier League held on Wednesday saw some interesting trends in the international cricket. India's one day captain M S Dhoni won the highest bid of the day at US $ 1.5 million . Dhoni was purchased by Team Chennai. Australian all rounder Andrew Symonds was picked by Hyderabad for the second highest bid of $1.35m. Adam Gilchrist earned USD 700,000 from Hyderabad. Bret Lee went for $900,000 to Mohali. Surprisingly other Aussie players like Ricky Ponting and Hayden didnt do much as expected. Ponting was bid by Kolkatta at Rs 1.6crore while Matthew Hayden for Chennai at Rs 1.5 crore. Also Glenn McGrath and key Pakistani player Mohammed Yousuf were put back into the player pool after neither was able to reach their reserve price.
