It has been a disappointing day for the Indian hockey as the Indian team missed out on the Olympics Games men's hockey event for the first time in the history. 

 

India in the qualifiers lost 2-0 to Britain in the final of the qualifying tournament of the World Hockey on Sunday. With the defeat Indian team has failed to qualify and missed out on the oppourtunity for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

 

India which has won the gold medal eight times have never missed the Olympics, ever since field hockey was introduced as a medal sport in 1928.
