AI hikes fares

After private airliners like Jet Airways, Kingfisher increasing the air fares, the country's national carrier Air India too has announced a hike in the fares on account of the increased fuel surcharge.
The Rs 400 hike in fuel surcharge effective from June 19 is applicable to air tickets both on longer and shorter routes in the domestic sectors. This comesfollowing the raise in the ATF by oil companies. Low cost airliner Spice Jet also announced a Rs 400 fuel surcharge hike in its air fares. Other carriers like IndiGo, GoAir, Paramount Airways are also planning for price hikes owing to the rise in jet fuel cost. --MP
