Inflation drops to 0.13pc
Thursday 11 June 2009
The country's inflation rate has hit a low index of 0.13 percent for the week ended 30 May 2009. This is the lowest ever in the last 30 years. The same annual rate for the corresponding week during the year 2008 was 9.32 percent. With the inflation rate likely to further drop down and may even go negative, the Finance ministry has appealed to the banks to cut down on the interest rates to boost the economy. --MP
