Except for few isolated incidents, Assembly polls in three of the States, Maharastra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh held on Tuesday went mostly peaceful. There were some case of shootings by Naxals in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. However no casualities are reported. However lower polling turnout was reported in most parts. In Maharastra, Congress-NCP combine are in the fray against the MNS and BJP. Interestingly congress is in power in all these States and hopes to retain power and hence the outcome could be a bigger verdict on the Congress govt. Meanwhile several exit polls have indicated favor towards UPA in winning the elections when the results will be known on Oct 22nd.
