The Islamic religious organisation, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has opposed the Vande Mataram and has passed a resolution supporting this on Tuesday along with many others including fatwa denouncing terrorism. The objection was on grounds that some portions of the national song was against the Islamic practices. The move has triggered fresh controversies within political circles. Interestingly Union Minister P Chidambaram too was present during the National convention when the fatwa was issued against the national song.
