Sunday 8 November 2009
Amid opposition from the Chinese government, Tawang monanstry of Arunanchal Pradesh is all set to welcome the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on his upcoming visit to the region. It was in Tawang that Dalai Lama took refuge during his excile from Tibet in 1959. The Tibetan leader will be on a week long visit to the state till November 15, and will also tour Dirang, Bomdila and Itanagar. His proposed visit has raised concerns and a large number of paramilitary forces are put in place to ensure a safe visit for the spiritual leader. -- MP
