The initial shooting for J. P Dutta’s Aishwarya starrer ‘Umrao Jaan’ is finally underway in the palace of Rajastan’s capital city, Jaipur. The other rounds of the 2 month initial shooting will take place in Lucknow. The shooting which was supposed to begin in October got delayed due to the unavailability of Ash who got involved with the shooting of her first Hollywood film ‘The Last Legion’ in Tunisia. Ash will play the title role of courtesan and poetess Umrao Jaan in the movie.
Bobby - Love & Lust directed by Rakesh Parmaar is a story about a young girl who got to face serious trials in her life. She dreams of good things for future, but her dreams are shattered as she is trapped in the hands of the wicked. The film is all about love, lust and passion. The film is produced by Shanu Kazmi. This Vikram Bhatt movie, Deewane Hue Pagal is a romantic tale of a group of Romeos falling in love for a lovely lady. Akshay Kumar is dominant in his comic role and rocks the show. Rimmi Sen, the lady love keeps up with her role. Film has a whole lot of stars like Sunil Shetty, Shahid Kapoor, Rimmi Sen, Om Puri, and Paresh Rawal. The dance sequences and action scenes across the sand dunes of Dubai are sure highlights of the movie. The movie comes as a good entertainer except for a few hitches here and there.

Popular Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is being honoured with the Global Diversity Award by the European Union for being an international symbol for diversity. The award is being given in link with the one day conference ‘Celebrating Diversity in the European Union' that is being held in London on Nov 24th. Aishwarya Rai is a symbol of what Asian women can achieve and a real international symbol for diversity, says the conference co-chairman. Besides Ms. Rai, Hollywood actor Jackie Chan also will be honoured with a similar award.
Suparn Verma’s Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena is a film about con men who try to make money by cheating people. The movie starts off well with style and adventurism. But the climax is rather confusing for the average Indian audience. Many a film has come up with similar themes on crime in the recent past and the movie lacks substance. Fardeen Khan does fairly well. Farther Feroz Khan is okay. But it’s KK who makes a notable performance. Koena Mitra acting skills are average. Manoj Soni’s cinematography and Hemal Kothari’s fast paced editing gives it a trendy gloss.
Bollywood's veteran actor Dev Anand will inaugurate the 36th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) that is to be held in Goa this year from November 24th to December 4th. Dev Anand will be the chief guest for the opening ceremony while Chiranjeevi will be the guest of honour. This year’s national award winner Tara and Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu will add color to the function as ‘thali’ girls.
Akbar Khan's 'Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story' which tells the epic romace of Shahjahan-Mumtaz Mahal has finally hit the theateres. This big budgeted movie of Rs 100 crore is said to be the costliest film ever made in the history of Indian Cinema. The movie has a large number of casts with model-actor Zulfikar Sayed and legendary singer Noorjehan's granddaughter Sonya Jehan playing the lead roles. Also stars Kabir Bedi, Manisha Koirala, Pooja Batra, Arbaaz Ali, Kim Sharma, Milind Gunaji, Vaquar Sheikh, and Arbaaz Khan.
A book on the life of Bollywood meghastar Sharukh Khan is getting readied for release in December. The author of the book is Mushtaq Sheikh who himself is a journalist and friend of King Khan. This well documented book on the life of SRK, illustrated with colour pictures is certainly going to be a bit pricey. Ajay Mage is the publisher of the book.
Filmmaker Rakeysh Mehra’s 'Rang de Basanti' is a youthful drama, a film about rising above the odds for ones beliefs. Amir Khan plays the lead role. Popular British stage actress Alice Patten who pairs with Aamir in the film will mark her debut in feature film with this movie. The story is about a young English filmmaker who comes to India to take a film on the Indian freedom fighters. But due to shortage of funds she gets hold of students to play the cast. The film unfolds how the youth get inclined by the courage and spirit of their great revolutionary leaders. Cast includes Siddharth, Kunal Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni, Soha Ali Khan etc. A. R Rahman does the background music for the film. The film is to release in January 2006.
Prakash Jha’s Ajay Devgan starrer ‘Apaharan’ is slated for release on December 2nd. This movie talks about the kidnapping stories of Bihar which has almost become a business there. Besides Ajay Devgan, the film casts Nana Patekar and Bipasha Basu. Nana Patekar plays a powerful politician who has a variety of shades to his character. Prakash Jha is the producer, director and writer for the film.
