"Insights – Celebrating Nature"  A feeling that life is blessed, it's full of joy and celebration....

Recently a compilation of fine art nature photographs by lens man Rajbir Singh was organised at Lalit Kala Akademi, on this occasion Chief Guest S. Paul (Sr. Photographer), Harish Salve (Former assistant solicitor General), Gunbir Singh (Chairman CII Amritsar Chapter), Harcharan Singh (CFO Indian Express), Dr. S.K. Kacker (Ex Director AIIMS), lens man Rajbir Singh and Curator Subi Chaturvedi were also present there.

This is What Rajbir Says about the exhibition;

Insights- Celebrating Nature

Life has many ways in which we can look at it but only one way in which we know it. I went into the world of nature to seek what attracts me and new ways of how my camera looks at what I see. I found beauty, acceptance, peace, wonder and amazement. I was awe struck by what life has to offer and what I had missed. A feeling that life is blessed, its full of joy and celebration is what remains with me. The need, for me, is to open the door and seek to see life in its festivity.

Amazement

A bird is an old symbol of life. A bird flies away and leaves no trace just like life. This intense lotus field full of birds in flight is a remarkable example of life's wonder, unceasing. It is an invitation to celebration. There is a need to be in the moment to feel life.

Awakened

With water the soil comes alive and the droplets bring life on the ground. Rivers and streams working their wonder awaken the environment to break them and make soil. Water in the hills is a powerful force a chisel in God's hand. Sculptures are born of varied textures, colours and forms. This is one stream flowing into the Ganga bringing red mud with it to colour what is flows through.

Celebration

Whenever I have felt light in my heart and mind I have found life in celebration. This is an Apricot tree enroute Gangotri. The light struck it at a certain angle for it to look enlightened, when I took this image. The yellow grass is probably "Mustard". During winter snow blocks these paths and hides the colours in white sheets.

About the Artist –

RAJBIR SINGH: A SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Natural forms, textures and colours in nature inspire Rajbir to pick up the camera. The need to find an expression and capture the moments and feelings of travelling through some of the most stimulating, landscapes in the world has fueled this passion,in him. Extensive travel through the Indian Himalayas and wild life sanctuaries have taken him to some fascinating places and some of the highest villages in Asia. The northern Himalayas are vast with places and images to capture through out the year. Getting caught in the snow, driving under falling rock and shooting at sub zero temperatures are some of the added thrills he has lived through.

The exhibition is in large prints and many of them are on canvas. Panoramic images of mountain landscapes, nature and wild life are  on archival paper and canvas. The canvas gives the images a very raw feel and almost painterly effect. The work reflects coloured panoramas, black white images and also impressionist work giving it a new way in which to appreciate nature. Speaking Tree, river sculptures, mountain stories, flower power and impressionist sections of the exhibitions are images of trees, rock forms, mountain landscapes and impressionist work.

The Impressionist images are an inspiration from what is happening to photography in the international fields. Something which one does not get to see in Indian artists very often.

Here is what a leading World class photographer has to say about him:

"Rajbir is a keen photographer whom I have seen grow. He has absorbed the finer aspects of photography both technical and creative. I have known him to be a serious fine art photographer who has a lot of potential and promise. One of my favourites of his work remains the 'speaking tree'.

- Jim Zuckerman- Visiting lecturer UCLA

Rajbir is a guest lecturer in Academy of Photographic Excellence Delhi and is working on his first book.
